ELSPA has released a list of the top ten best-selling games for all formats in Britain for the first half of this year, with Nintendo and its exerciser Wii Fit setting the pace. The top ten selling games in Britain hail largely from Nintendo formats with five of the top ten being exclusive to Nintendo platforms. Despite the dominance of Nintendo the chart isn’t crammed with party and mini-games, the genres remain fairly spread out with sport, first-person, music, racing and fighting games
The 2009 best-selling games so far in the UK are: Wii Fit, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii . . . as Nintendo continues it’s absolute Wii-domination. These numbers are according to the ELSPA’s GfK Chart-Tracking. Here is the top ten best-selling games by individual system for the first half of 2009: 1. Wii Fit (Wii) 2. Wii Play(Wii) 3. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) 4. Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) 5. Killzone 2 (PS3) 6. Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360) 7. Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training (DS)
Brits are apparently very into self-improvement and wholesome family pastimes. Says MCV : Half-year sales figures show success of mass market and educational titles. ELSPA and GfK-ChartTrack have this morning released UK video game sales results for the first half of 2009. And thanks to Nintendo the numbers show that family games and educational titles are currently the most popular genre in the country. Don't worry too much though, Killzone's at number 5.
